Apartment rent hikes in Tampa above national average

People renting apartments locally are paying much more than they did a year ago. This February in Tampa, the average rent price was $1,166, 5.7 percent higher when compared to the same month a year ago. The spike was the 10th-largest increase in the nation, according to the February Yardi Matrix report provided by RentCafe. The national average increase was 4.3 percent. A Tampa developer is planning to knock down a one-story 1960s home on Bayshore Boulevard and replace it with a massive speculative mansion. James Ramos, owner of Ramos Design Build Corp. and Re/Max Bay to Bay in Tampa, has designed a nearly 7,000-square-foot speculative mansion for the half-acre lot at 2901 W. Bayshore Boulevard home demolished to make way for spec mansion (Photos)

Tampa developer James Ramos, owner of Ramos Design Build Corp. and Re/Max Bay to Bay in Tampa, demolished a one-story 1960 home on Bayshore Boulevard this week in order to replace it with a massive speculative mansion.
